Tomatillo
‘Green tomatoes’ are an original species from Mexico. They've got a tart, fruity and slightly herbal flavour. Used typically in salsas to cut through the chilli heat. ‘Salsa verde’ is an essential partner to dishes such as tacos, tostadas and enchiladas and you'll find it an absolute mainstay in pretty much all taquerias in Mexico.
